Using DotNetNuke and Magneto for Our Business

CMS has made the web development industry a much simpler environment. Many one-man development businesses are based on the use of CMS platforms. However, even the most well-intentioned web developers may have biases towards the more frequent uses of CMS. Previously, the web development industry requires developers to build everything nearly from scratch. But what’s the developer is currently thinking may not always be the best thing for our company. Our business operation may require less complex implementation and a CMS works well for our purposes. Each company may have very unique business objectives and each CMS is better suited for specific goals. There are drawbacks and benefits of using specific CMS for our company. It is important for decision makers to explore some CMS basics. Business leaders and marketers should be aware that the selection of CMS could have small or big significance for their business. This is an important fact that we should consider when choosing CMS for our business operation.

Hosting is another headache that many businesses would need to consider as they seek to maintain their overall web presence. By nature, proprietary systems can be built from scratch to match our requirements. However, this can be a costly path, if we don’t require extensive utilization. It is not a good idea for companies to all eggs in one basket and we should be able to minimize risks by using open source solutions that can be modified based on our preferences. WordPress, Drupal and Joomla are common selections when companies are seeking to improve their online representation with CMS. However, DotNetNuke and Magneto could also become two interesting alternatives.

DotNetNuke is an obvious solution for users with Windows-based servers. It is fairly versatile, although not too easy to troubleshoot and the back-end is somewhat clunky. The Windows CMS community could also use other platforms, such as Orchard, but DotNetNuke’s versatility is certainly a big plus. Many users are struggling with the lack of ease when they use a CMS. Howeever DotNetNuke is relative easy to use, although it has less flexibility compared to many other platforms. Magneto is another robust platform that’s based on PHP and it is a solid open source platform. It offers s unbridled control over many aspects of our online store. Magneto is clearly popular for different e-commerce solutions. Compared to DotNetNuke, Magneto has better flexibility and it is also easy to use.

As comparison, WordPress has among the best score in ease of use, however, it won’t work well in a Windows server. WordPress could also be modified into an e-commerce platform using a proper theme, plugins and widgets. But, it is still not as capable as Magneto for this purpose. Drupal has excellent flexibility and it is often called as the Swiss Army knife of the CMS world. However, Drupal can be unnecessarily complex for websites that require less complex features. Joomla is nearly similar to WordPress and it can be considered as a capable alternative.
